After Omar, Hassan, and Fatuma’s interview, they were just waiting and waiting for their next interview. But instead of them, one of Omar’s best friends named Nimo was interviewed. When Nimo, Omar, and Jeri heard the news that Nimo was going to Canada, Nimo felt guilty. She thought that Omar and Hassan or their other friend Maryam deserved to go to Canada instead of her. Months later, Omar and his friend Jeri got into high school, then one day when Omar and Jeri were coming back from school they heard Fatuma scream:” NOOOOOOOO!” Sadly, one of their baby goats died because more and more people have been moving into the refugee camp and there isn’t much grass left. But when Hassan came and saw the dead baby goat, it was too much for him so he ran away. Then after hours and hours of Omar searching for him, Hassan wasn’t found until the next day when Omar woke up to the noise of the speaker saying: “attention to the young man looking for your brother, your brother is here. He is safe, come to the fruit stand in the market.” Once Omar found Hassan, they started walking back to their camp. Then everyone Omar, Hassan, and Fatuma knew were surrounding them looking happy and sad. Omar didn’t understand why everyone was here and Fatuma said: everyone is here because you will be leaving, your names are on the list with the UN. You’re going back for a second interview, to be resettled in America. But the sad part of leaving is that Omar found out that Fatuma can’t go with them because Omar is almost 18 and not a child anymore. When Omar and Hassan were about to leave their friend Tall Salan came and gave them a bottle of sand to remember Dadaab and the people living in it. Hopefully Omar and Hassan have a good life in America.
